Tucked amidst the United Nations of Greenwood Avenue restaurants is Raku Japanese Restaurant & Bar which has been dubbed as the quieter twin of the Holland Village restaurant of the same name. Quiet though this restaurant may be, it seems to have a wider menu offering, as have been reported by some sharp netizens. Web fodder or otherwise, Raku features undeniably burp-inducing fare such as the succulent Tenderloin Beef ($30), mouth-watering Raku Special Maki ($20), and Seasonal Japanese Fish Sashimi ($30-$40). A bowl of Yasai comprising of fresh crunchy vegetables and miso based soup ($6) are standard welcome starters that precede any order. Other starter variants include the popular Pitan tofu ($4), which is tofu with century egg and tobiko (flying fish roe). A Japanese dining experience is incomplete without sake ($32 onwards), and classics such as assorted sushi and chawanmushi. Raku's chic, modern interior preserves the casual dining atmosphere of a Japanese tavern while the dim lighting adds an upscale, modern Tokyo twist.
