Obolo is a boutique de patisserie (pastry boutique), at Serangoon and Joo Chiat Road. Set up by architect graduates Mac Woo and June Lee who decided to pursue their passions of building towers of cake rather than brick and mortar. As artisans of cakes and pastries who are extremely dedicated to their craft, every slice of cake is a reflection of their indulgence for life and its soul food.
As the Architects of Bliss, the owners of Obolo offer a veritable pastry and beverage menu with over forty drinks and desserts to choose from. Anglo-philes and Victorian lovers can take a pick from their esteemed collection of Gourmet Teas (Moroccan Mint, Honey Camomile at $3.50). Caffeine fans should order the Macha Cappucino ($4.50) – a heavenly mix of Kyoto Uji Macha Green Tea with a lovely milk froth. Dentists, rejoice because sweet tooth lovers will be paying you a visit after Obolo. With a huge selection of ice-cream concoctions, a scoop or two is not enough satiate that sugar fix. Famed for their legendary macarons, you can now choose any 3 macarons and top it up with a scoop of delicious ice-cream ($10.50). Otherwise, you can be your own architect of bliss and create a dessert platter with choice of a slice of cake, scoop of ice-cream or sorbet and two macarons ($14.90) and prepared for the stairway to pastry heaven where it’s all sugar and nice with no spice.
