In Harbourfront folklore, there is a boy who had an obsession with Posh Spice, which cost his mother a fortune in saffron. Spice up your life with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of Vietnamese cuisine at Madam Saigon.
Madam Saigon offers an impressive menu of Vietnamese delicious dishes to showcase the country’s vibrant cuisine. Vietnamese Chef Hung is from Ho Chi Minh City and with over 25 years of culinary expertise, he has recreated the authentic Vietnamese flavour by selecting certain representative dishes such as the Vietnamese Skewer, a popular street food from Ho Chi Minh City. Pieces of chicken and beef are marinated with lemongrass, spices and lightly seasoned before grilling. Each skewer consists of tender, succulent meat and is paired with a mild and smooth peanut sauce dip. A highly-recommended skewer is the unusual BBQ betel leaves beef ($9.90), which features minced beef wrapped in betel leaves which impart an unmistakeably herbaceous flavour to the meat. To complement the flavourful meat, soothe the palate with the refreshing Salad Trio ($9.50) where mounds of sweet papaya prawn salad, tangy mango salad and Madam Saigon’s special chicken salad are built side by side by for a tantalising bite.
Slurp in the richness of Vietnamese food culture with an essential order of the famous Vietnamese noodle soup dish, Pho ($7.90-$8.90). Cooked using the traditional method by simmering quality ingredients over several hours, the hearty soup stock is poured over a standard combination of sliced beef, beef tendon, brisket or beef balls with either flat rice noodle or vermicelli.
Other main course choices include a rich, robust Viet-style Sweet Potato Chicken Curry ($10.90), the portion-healthy Saigon Special Steamed Egg & Chicken Chop ($9.50) and the exotic Stewed Lemongrass Chicken ($10.50) all served with steaming rice. Like happiness, food is only real when shared so exchange tales of Vietnamese intrigue while dipping slices of fish and fresh vegetables in a sweet-sour broth by ordering the Saigon Hot Pot ($19.50 for fish hot pot, $14.50 for vegetables hot pot). Never leave the table without a dose of the potent Vietnamese drip coffee or the Yammy Colada ($4.90), an ice blended concoction of yam, coconut milk drizzled with a sweet Vietnamese palm sugar.
Just remember to clean up the incriminating food stains off the ao dai!Operating Hours:
