Recent studies have shown that curbing one’s innate desires can lead to questionable social behaviour such as launching into a zestful display of the Lotus Flower dance sequence on public transportation. Salvage sanity and your dance credo by sinning a little with today’s Groupon: for $9, you get $20 worth of food, drinks and cakes at aptly named cafe, Temptations.
Baked in 1985, Temptations has since created a sweet legacy in Singapore for its exquisite gourmet cakes such as its signature Etoile chocolate mousse cake. Taking over the world one sweet tooth at a time with its immensely popular customised creations, Temptations has continued to be the cream of the crop by expanding its menu to include other delicious food items. The kitchen is led by Le Cordon Bleu -trained Head Chef Randy Torres, whose vast experience and culinary expertise has decorated Temptations with more accolades bestowed by food lovers all around.
The spacious restaurant on the upper level of Temptations’ new two-storey location whips up a succulent Roast Beef Sandwich with horseradish cream, roasted red peppers, caramelized red onion, mesclun mix and cheddar cheese ($11.50). Godfather wannabes, start your Italian apprenticeship with a plate of Lemon Pepper Salmon Alfredo Pasta with fresh Norwegian salmon atop sliced onions, tomatoes, garlic and fettuccini pasta ($17.90). Appease the caveman within by ordering the specialty entree: a mouth watering slab of Nippon Marble Sirloin Steak (225 grams) cooked to your liking and topped with bacon-jalapeno demi-glace, served with boiled new potatoes and sautéed asparagus ($25.90).
Weight watchers, drop your measly carrot sticks and order hearty appetisers such as the Maryland Style Crab Cakes served with Remoulade & Cucumber-Herb salad ($10), or a bowl of Ensalada Rustica Fresh Spring Mix, with crispy Prosciutto, grilled balsamic Portabella mushrooms, fresh mozzarella and sundried tomatoes drizzled with vinaigrette ($8.50). Polish off the meal with a dessert such as the Chocolate Souffle ($8) or a cup of Cappuccino ($5.50) for light refreshment.
Resistance is futile with today’s Groupon!
Reviews:
“The bakers at Temptations are true artists, crafting cakes with flair and creativity that make them look too good to eat (almost). Owner Jeffrey Galistan says his most popular cake is the Chocolate Etoile, a sinful cocoa creation sprinkled with a half-moon of powdered sugar and crowned with a bouquet of chocolate bark, leaves and flowers. Galistan says his bakers can design in any style customers ask for, evidenced by the Barbie cake on display at the front of the store.” - Timeout Singapore
“The chef knows how to blend various meats and veges, and make the most amazing sauces! The food is just splendid. I actually woke up the next day craving for more pinwheel steak. Great presentation - an easy and pretty eat compared to regular steaks. The salmon with the peppercorn and pomegranate reduction sauce has just the right amount of crispness on the side and explodes in your mouth with one bite! Just fabulous! The decor and ambience of the place just feels so good too! it's great to bring family or friends or a date there!” – Stacey Nonis, www.hungrygowhere.com
“The cakes here are really good. Never tried the fruity cakes but the Etoile and the Blackforest are really good. Cute designs for cakes are also available; they look so Carrie Bradshaw! Price is very reasonable too." – WJ Pete, www.hungrygowhere.com
