Before modern fingers mastered the art of chopsticks, prehistoric hands offset a lack of dexterity with sharpened bamboo spears and careful aim. Pay tribute to our forefathers with today’s skewable Groupon: for $10.45 per adult or $9.45 per child (1.2m and below), you get a Satay Hotpot Buffet at Satay Hotpot Cuisine (worth $20.90 and $18.90 respectively).
The newly opened restaurant features a true Malaccan favourite – bubbling pots of creamy, satay sauce, awaiting an avalanche of fresh food items. Be seated at one of the imposing tables and await your turn to joust. Speedy wait staff will balance your orders and generous tubs of the savoury peanut sauce to your table. Withdraw the spindly lances and engage in spearing wars over chicken mushroom, pork and beef balls; rescue spicy simmered slices of beef, mutton and chicken from the boiling cauldron; and tuck into thick chunks of seafood tofu, you tiao, gingered quail eggs and kang kong, hastily gobbled down over a bowl of mee hoon. Keep the spice flowing with a selection of local favourites like Glass Jelly, Kicakpoo and Homemade Barley ($2 each) before capping the tip of your stomach with an icy blast of Cendol ($2.50-$3.50).
Save a trip to our water-providing neighbours and make good with this traditional and authentic Malaysian offering instead. Great for families and large groups.

“Celup in Malay means dip. And this dish originates from Malacca (southern Malaysia, about 3 hours drive from Singapore). About 30 different items/raw ingredients available on the menu here to go with the satay hotpot. We thought all of the items were pretty fresh. Personal favourites are quail eggs, fish dumplings, kangkung and sotong/squid balls. Great to know that this shop is also newly recorded on hungowhere.com, otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to put down the exact address here. Give it a try! For any better, you have to drive up to Malacca!” – So Food Blog Review
‘Many people are familiar with satay, but not everyone knows what satay celup is. ‘Celup’ means dip, in Malay. So, satay celup is…well…dipping satay (or satay dipping), I guess. It is similar in concept, yet different in content. You still dip skewered food into satay sauce, but instead of the usual seasoned meats, satay celup has more variety. You have fishballs, deep-fried wan-tons, mushrooms, ngoh hiang, etc. Even kang-kong on a stick (now I have seen everything)! As far as I am aware, there are not many satay celup places in Singapore. So, to find one near home was…well…quite a find. With great anticipation, we made a reservation for eight people, and descended on Malacca Celup like a swarm of locusts. Our first impression was “This place is so clean!” (compared to the one we were familiar with in Malacca). In Malacca, we know for a fact that they recycle the pot of satay sauce at each table, and leave it for the next customer. “Adds to the flavour!” quipped one of my friends. Over at Malacca Celup though, we were pretty sure that the sauce is NOT recycled, and each pot they bring out is a fresh one.” - The Food Pawn Blog Review
“We were at Katong few weeks back and I spotted this restaurant !! Satay Celup , my favorite !! I told Ben I want to dine here, to celebrate our anniversary Now we don’t have to travel to malacca ! This restaurant was newly opened on 15th March, the owner is a very young lady called Stacey. My dear friends, Malacca Celup can be found at Facebook and remember to “Like” it to receive promotions/discounts.” – Blogaaholic Review
